Banana Republic Vintage Green 78 9/10

Vintage Green 78 is such a damn good fragrance.

This is one of those bottles I picked up expecting it to be good and ended up thinking, “Wait… why does nobody talk about this?”

It’s green, fresh, clean, a little earthy, a little herbal, and just really easy to love. There’s something about it that feels natural and outdoorsy without smelling like you’re trying to cosplay as a forest. It has that crisp, put together quality to it, but it still has some personality. It doesn’t smell like every other fresh fragrance sitting on the shelf.

And the quality honestly surprised me. My understanding is that the same perfumers that worked on some of the Mind Games frags designed many of the banana republic scents. It smells way more expensive than the 20-30 you’ll spent on this.

The scent itself is probably the biggest reason I keep coming back to it. It’s masculine without being overly “masculine,” if that makes sense. Fresh without being boring. Green without being too sharp. It just works.

Performance is probably the only thing I would knock. You’re looking at around 4 to 6 hours for me. So yeah, it isn’t an all day beast and I wouldn’t pretend it is. But it’s also not one of those fragrances where you spray it and wonder if it disappeared before you even left the house. Four to six hours is perfectly usable, especially when you consider what this costs.

And honestly, I’ll happily respray something this good.

That’s what I love about Vintage Green 78. It feels like one of those under the radar finds that you get a little excited about because you know you’re onto something. Everyone talks about the usual suspects, but every once in a while you find a fragrance that makes you stop and think, “How is this not talked about more?”

The bottle is cool too. It has that vintage, slightly retro vibe that fits the fragrance really well.

Easy 9/10 for me. If the performance lasted another few hours, I’d have a hard time finding anything to complain about and it would be an no brainer 10/10.

This is a sleeper. A really, really good one that punches miles above its price tag.
