Amouage Gold Man was first created in 1983. It is one of those fragrances that just feels so luxurious. The smooth balance of florals, powdery notes, incense, and animalic notes is flawless. There is nothing in this mix of notes that feels too much. The rose and lily-of-the-valley add elegance, the frankincense gives it that unmistakable Amouage signature, and the drydown is this beautiful mix of sandalwood, amber, musk, and civet. Every note feels perfectly placed. Nothing sticks out awkwardly.I can see why some younger fragrance enthusiasts might initially think it's too formal or mature, but I think that's because Gold Man unapologetically embraces sophistication.
