Rotting Fruit

One of my favourite smells in the world is cold, damp cave. When I first got into fragrances, I scoured the internet looking for recommendations for my perfect cave scent. Bat came up very often, so I knew I had to try it (this was before Olm was released).

This is NOT the type of cave I was looking for. This is overripe tropical fruit and dirt. It smells like a butterfly conservatory - it's damp and earthy and there are rotting platters of fruit sitting out for the butterflies to feed on. It smells a little too similar to my compost bin for my liking. It’s like a hot, humid, shallow cave in the jungle.

I think it’s a neat interpretation of bats, different than what you’d expect. But I hate how it smells. Sickly sweet, dirty, moist. I could only stomach trying it twice (once on paper, once on skin).
