So many iris facets in one bottle!

What I love about iris/orris is the many facets iris can take in perfumery. It can be vegetal and smell a little like carrots or stems. It can be powdery and resemble lipstick or cosmetic powders. It can be soapy. And sometimes, a SINGLE iris perfume can display varying facets as the perfume dries!

Belle de Paris is one of those perfumes. It takes on a vegetal iris presentation but leans a bit more green than carroty (at first). It’s like you have the root bulb and the leaves together. Here, at the opening, the perfume is also slightly wet smelling. Think: freshly watered flowers. But turn your head and it becomes soapy, clean (iris and neroli can do that to my nose). Another time, it smells almost powdery like a pressed powder. I LOVE when iris does this!

As it dries down, the base shows the carroty aspect iris can take on. All of this and nothing about the delicate violets (semi-sweet and deep purple), the subtle musk-cedar, anchoring the potion. All so well done and best of all? It’s affordable! A top-notch, beautiful (if simple) iris perfume that won’t break wallets.

The perfume is overall sheer, nothing dense, making it great for the office. And for and edt the longevity is outstanding—6 hours plus!
