Hmm, not sure how I feel about this one. First impressions: veryyy dry, coffee is pretty subtle. It’s a bit sharp/rough which I guess is intentional, since this fragrance is inspired by tree bark. Tonka and sandalwood feels sophisticated but not particularly inspired. I’m liking it more over time as it smooths out. It’s nice enough, but not worth the price for me. I have a mini of this so perhaps I’ll grow to like it more over time

    Coffee can be a hard one to get right. I have Halloween Man X and I’m thinking of selling it. It smells amazing for the first 2-4 hours but then dries down to coffee breathe instead of coffee 😭

      Haha well that sounds terrible! You just gave me flashbacks to my grade 10 math teacher who had the WORST coffee breath, not a scent-memory I’d ever want to revisit intentionally 😂

      I find it oddly comforting but I think it’s because it reminds me of my grandad since I’d sit in his lap watching old samurai movies while he drank his morning coffee when I was toddler lol. But I’m not sure I want to smell like that to everyone else 🫠

    I ended up really enjoying this one but it’s definitely very different from all the other Diptyque Essences. Rougher bark opening as a “protector” to the smooth, comforting tonka, coffee, and sandalwood dry-down for me. I found it performed super well! I didn’t end up purchasing it yesterday but it’s on my short list for a fall/winter bottle.

      I agree about the performance! I noticed this morning that it was still very strong on last night’s t-shirt. Don’t think I’d get a full bottle but I think it’s a great everyday option for fall/winter!
