Brown Girl Jane Chalet

Chalet is a boozy, (sickeningly) sweet chocolate and patchouli scent.

The opening is a certified sugar bomb. The champagne note is very strong - boozy, dry, white grape. The plum is not apparent to me unless I look for it. I do get a realistic, creamy white chocolate that is quite delicious. I also get a bit of pepper in the opening that isn't listed - the opening is SO sweet that it makes my nose tickle in the same way pepper does. That plus the patchouli, which is pretty earthy from the get go.

Chalet becomes much nicer to my nose when the opening fades. The florals become more apparent and the cloying white chocolate softens into a dusty, rich cocoa with a hint of bitterness. The pepper, patchouli, and fruity booziness remain. The total effect gives me dark chocolate eggnog, which I adore! It is a yummy, cozy, and surprisingly complex scent that I wish I didn't have to suffer through the opening for. The dry down adds the scent of toasted nuts to a now milky, bitter, boozy cocoa - it is quite addictive.

This is a *strong* projector for about 4 hours, after which it calms down slightly. The longevity is excellent. Think 8-10 hours on the skin and longer on clothes.

Final thoughts: I think Chalet smells great on paper and in the air. I do not like it so much on me until the opening leaves the building, at which point it is delicious. I think if you are a true gourmand lover that enjoys very sweet scents, this would be a wonderful match from start to finish. Personally, I'd give it a 6.5/10 - it is a creative, fun scent with excellent projection and performance, but the opening is just too much for me. Perhaps I will enjoy this more in the winter, so I will revisit it then.
