A Fleeting Allure

Getting floored by a perfume’s sheer uniqueness and storytelling prowess is a great passion of mine, yet I appreciate those who sing a softer, more predictable tune too, and Allure Homme is one of those fragrances.

It opens like a bowl of fruits that have been warming in the sun - not at all spoiled, just soft. There’s rounded, non-sour lemon, a hint of sweet orange and a nectarous juiciness from the peach. Some ginger and pepper dance around the edges, adding a gentle heat and preventing things from feeling sickly.

The classic Chanel base of woody vanilla amber soon arrives, shrouding the fruits in a soft, creamy, androgynous approachability that does indeed smell very gentle and alluring.

Nobody needs their fragrances to scream, but today’s version becomes a near-instant skin scent and disappears entirely after only a couple of hours. It’s still a gorgeous-smelling perfume, but anyone who values longevity should consider other options - there are plenty of alternatives within this DNA.
