A great start, a troublesome ending.

Nomade opens as a beautiful, elegant, chic and luminous sweet fruity floral chypre.

The white florals are muted in the opening, with the yellow plum bringing a delicious sweet, juicy, sunny and slightly honeyed fruity floral accord that is kept fresh, bright and a little breezy with the oakmoss. The freesia is more noticeable in the heart.

In the dry down, the plum is a little jammy but lends an ambery nuance to the woody moss chypre base that has a little hint of earthiness. Not listed, but my nose picks out the slightest sprinkle of patch amongst the moss adding a little sensuality to the base.

It’s the dry down that reminds me of why I don’t own a full bottle of this. And it’s a me problem, I guess, not a Nomade problem.

I can find some synthetics, particularly some synthetic sandalwoods and akigalawood, bothersome. Of course, akigalawood is one of Quentin Bisch’s favourite Givaudan exclusive synthetics to use. It’s heavily used in Guidance and Bois Impérial. To my sensitive nose, these synthetics can often turn overly warm, heavy and cloying on my skin, enough to cause a wave of queasiness…. And about 3hrs into wearing Nomade, it’s all that I can smell and the nausea has hit.

It’s a shame because I find both Nomade and Guidance to be beautiful perfumes, I love smelling them on other people, but unfortunately it’s a no go zone for a personal and persistent scent bubble on my skin. My nose and olfactory system has forsaken me. Again.
