Ombre Leather's Darker, Smokier Brother

The opening smells like a clean leather jacket, still unworn, hanging up in your wardrobe. There's a fresh, almost ozonic quality to the leather, while the cardamom introduces a spice that feels cool and metallic rather than warm or aromatic.

In the second stage, the jacket begins to warm against your skin. The patchouli adds a darker, earthy depth, while the rose brings a subtle fruity sweetness that softens things up without making it feel overtly floral.

Eventually, the fragrance settles into a darker, smokier place. I imagine that same jacket after a long night out, carrying traces of crowded nightclubs and stale cigarette smoke.

I enjoy the opening, but the base isn't to my personal taste. That said, for those seeking a rougher, smokier take on Ombre Leather, Cuir Nilam is certainly worth trying.
