A lot more floral than pear

I only own one pear scent (the beautifully contemplative Studied by Liis). I thought it would be nice to have a fresher, sunnier iteration of the note, so I picked up a sample of this based on the notes (and the pretty bottle).

The opening is a strong floral pear, of the sort that almost burns my nostrils. Despite being an EDT, it’s powerful—one spray on the back of my hand had me wishing I’d used a test strip first. The floral aspect isn’t fresh or bright, but a vintage-feeling white floral. Not exactly indolic, but heavy and cloying to my nose.

As it settles and the pear fades, you’re left with a strong and somewhat generic perfumey white floral accord. My nose doesn’t pick up rhubarb or tea to freshen things up, just PERFUME.

Despite the surprisingly strong projection, it thankfully faded from my skin within 2 hours, leaving just enough that if I put nose to skin it smelled like I’d washed my hands with the fancy soaps from my great-aunt’s bathroom.

If you’re a fan of classic perfumery and vintage florals, this may be a winner for you. For me, it’s the opposite of what I enjoy in a fragrance.
