Holy banana Batman!

Holy banana Batman! Considering banana isn’t listed as a note, this opens with a blast of green banana fruit, that ripens and sweetens quickly as the tuberose pulls through. The scent is somewhere in between that of a Gros Michael and Cavendish banana with a definate hit of isoamyl acetate.

The jasmine comes through too in the heart, but gently so. There’s still a fruity hint and what I also imagine then is the banana flower. It pulls the white flowers toward a yellow floral, a hint of green and creamy waxiness, and as the amber creeps up from the base, a warm resin plays with the brightness. There’s a little bit of earthy nuttiness in there too. It’s sweet but surprisingly really well balanced and very pleasant to the nose. As it settles further, in stark contrast to its opening, the sandalwood pulls all the notes together to create a rather sensual yet bright, sweet fruity, earthy floral. The dry down actually reminds me a bit of Paco Rabane’s Olympea. It doesn’t smell like it, it just has the same vibe. A sensual, almost velvety slightly, fruity floral.

I sampled this last year when it was released and was not expecting to like it, (Marc Jacobs DNA tends to not jam well on my skin) but immediately snapped up a 10ml travel after a first wear.

The banana opening is so different and so fun, carefree and playful. But then the banana grows up from a girl to a woman as it settles into a very wearable and enjoyable fresh, tropical fruity floral with hints of green and creamy banana on rather sensual jasmine, amber and sandalwood base. Good stuff. Some people will hate this, and that’s ok, but I love it.
