D.S. & Durga Debaser VS Debaser In Bloom

I've been wanting to compare these for awhile, so I'm glad I finally get to!

Debaser opens with a natural, green fig leaf and stem. It is lightly sweet, but mostly green. It is just a bit sweeter and rounder than Philosykos, which is even greener, but I think if you like Philosykos, you will enjoy this opening. It settles into barely ripe fig fruit with a touch of coconut cream - not a sweet coconut, but rather the layer of cream at the top of the can. It's a little musky and salty as well. I can finally smell the tartness from the bergamot, but I don't get iris in this. The fig and greenness last a long time, which I love. The cozy, warm woods emerge in the dry down.

Debaser in Bloom opens up much differently. It's sweet, deeply floral, and has a darker quality. The rosemary and gardenia combination is fascinating, creating a herbal, natural sweetness. This mixed with the smell of plastic cassette tapes is so unique. The tapes mixed with the white currant evokes sticky sweet grape bubblegum. A layer of musk lies at the bottom of everything else. What a wonderful ride of a scent this is. In the mid, the familiar fig and creaminess comes through, but this time we get a jammy, overripe fig mixed with the rosemary, grape bubblegum, and creamy, heady white florals. I do get a bit of indole from the gardenia. The musk and woody coconut husk in the base are a beautiful blend. Both are a bit savory, and combined with the foresty, dried fruit from the raspberry leaf, they make a wonderfully complex base for the other notes.

Both are beautiful, but I would go so far as to say these are two completely different perfumes, though the late dry downs are most similar. Definitely sample before buying.

Debaser is fresh, crisp, cozy and perfect for spring and summer days. Debaser in Bloom is just as beautiful, but would be perfect for evening and cooler weather, or for someone who wants a darker vibe - it's sultry and moody. Fig done two different ways, but I like them equally!
