Misleading name..

..if only because "Sport" has generally come to be associated with light and sharp shower gel fragrances designed to be worn to the gym or during activity (Carolina Herrera Sport for Men being a prime example).

Dior Homme Sport fits in pretty much anywhere. It's probably the most versatile fragrance I own. I'm comfortable wearing it to the office, out with my wife, meeting with friends, to weddings, and so on. Perhaps it's a bit bright for a funeral, I guess.

The bright and clean citrus opening with a ginger backbone is very refreshing. The ginger gives the scent some depth and keeps it from feeling too airy and light out of the atomizer. There's just a hint of resinous elemi through the middle that continues to keep it grounded. The base is a creamy sandalwood around some rosemary and lavender, though the herbs aren't nearly so sharp as I've found them to be in other fragrances. DHS is extremely well blended, but not to the point where individual notes are drowned out.

Performance is also very unsport-like. It tends to easily last through the workday, though it's much quieter after lunch.

I can't speak for the later reformulations. I'm sure they're very good as well, but the original is fantastic and I'll be hunting for more before it all disappears.
