A new look at rose

Rose is one of my favorite scents because of how incredibly versatile it is. It seems like any rose accord you can think of has multiple variations to compare. Even when trying to limit myself to certain kinds (green rose, earthy rose, fresh rose) an amateur hobbyist like me is still faced with an overwhelming number of options.In the pastry world Pierre Hermé is credited with combining the flavor of rose with litchi and raspberry. He revealed rose in a modern and innovative way that works so well it seems, in retrospect, inevitable. This is how I think of Diptyque Kyoto. I could never have imagined rose and beetroot working together so beautifully, but Kyoto suggests they could be the root and flower of a single plant.Opens with a bold peppery note that quickly fades. Sometimes I can barely perceive it, and sometimes I'm sure someone could smell it on the other side of the room. It's never loud, but it infuses the entire space. I feel like it would be wasted as an everyday scent for work and running errands. It's more for longer moments of stillness and focus where it gets a chance to build slowly.The eau de toilette is a limited edition, which makes it my pink whale after my decant runs out. Fortunately it lasts impressively long. What an absolute beauty.
