Eau de Californie

This is a smooth, woody scent that reminds me of the dry down of another favorite, Clive Christian's Matsukita, but without the tea. I usually don't care for mainly woody scents, but this one puts me in a serene state of mind. It is woody, savory, and a little smoky, with just the slightest hint of bergamot and smooth powderiness from the orris root. This is not a sweet scent whatsoever and is rather atmospheric. It smells like the aged wooden structures and incense smoke from Japanese temples, and also reminds me of a fancy traditional Japanese inn. It's very soothing.

Unfortunately, after while it does go in the direction of smelling like body odor on me. This is just a skin chemistry thing, but please try before you buy. Hopefully you're luckier than me, because otherwise this one is very nice!

Projection is quite gentle, but the scent lasts for about 10 hours on my skin.

This is a tranquil, light woody scent for when you want to be in a peaceful state of mind. It is unisex, clean, luxurious, elegant, and serene. Though it is nice as a perfume, it unfortunately doesn't work well on my skin. I think I would like this even more as a home scent. For this reason I rate it a 7/10.
