It’s a nice day for a white floral

Eau de Gucci Concentrée (EdGC) was billed as the “first unisex fragrance.” Uhm. Hello? What? This was 100% a c*caine marketing executive choice I’ve got to say. EdGC is a stunning display of white florals and possesses a tropical quality that makes me believe this could’ve been released during a resort collection? If you are not a fashion genius like myself, then please defer to Wikipedia’s description of this type of fashion show: “A cruise collection or resort collection or resort wear sometimes also holiday or travel collection (collection croisière in French), is an inter-season or pre-season line of ready-to-wear clothing produced by a fashion house or fashion brand.” That’s what I get from EdGC— it’s time to party mother!

Top: green lilies, soft powdery lilac, a buttery indolic floral bouquet peeks out from beneath as it swallows you whole.

Heart: the complexity of this floral bouquet cannot be understated. White florals are usually a tad synthetic in commercial releases from the 80’s on but this isn’t the foghorn variety nor the synthetic variety. It’s a joyful orange blossom+tuberose/lily (the minty/green quality) speckled with tropical flowers like plumeria, jasmine, and ylang-ylang and anchored by a soft sandalwood/vanilla base.

Base: it never really vanishes it stays much the same of the heart and that’s actually for the best, as it is the perfect scorching hot summer fragrance. The vanilla in the base helps create the tropical coconut resort fantasy that Gucci I think was going for.

I’m gonna be honest calling this a unisex fragrance is actually one of the funniest vintage fragrance tidbits of all time. A classical floral???

The resulting fragrance is a sunscreen-y lily/orange blossom/tuberose accord dusted with lilac pollen. I can’t say much else but it smells awesome. If you know you know, and if you don’t you will. Once you meet a beach-y sunscreen-y white floral you’ll never divorce from it. It’s a nice day for a white floral!
