Sparkling rose incense

This is a fantastic treat from Guerlain. I randomly came across this sample, and I'm glad to have tried a scent so complex and multifaceted, crafted with such dedication and precision. This is a rose fragrance with heavy incense, but the way it is blended is something else entirely.

This scent is somewhat linear, with more shimmering incense upfront and more pronounced rose in the middle, drying down to the same ish thing with ambergris and screechy synthetic amber more pronounced. The incense in here is the star of the show, sweet sparkly honeyed type, tangy and all-encompassing. Dusty tender rose accompanies it perfectly, creating a feeling of something ancient, nostalgic, timeless.

If it wasn't for a screechy synthetic amber at the drydown, it'd be 10/10 easily. Best orientalist fragrance, long-lasting, heavily projecting everywhere, a true masterpiece. This indeed feels like an ode to archaeologists of the past, unearthing delicate precious artefacts of eras long gone in the heat of a foreign climate. A beautiful, stunning perfume all around.
