This smells like Pepsi, if Pepsi was wearing expensive face powder and eating a cinnamon donut. I find it hard to understand why this perfume is so divisive, when it is so beautiful and comforting. A victim of overspraying, perhaps? It's admittedly potent as hell (or heaven). My wife wears this when working from home (not really office friendly) and I can never stop sniffing her. So good. Also surprisingly masc/NB-presenting friendly despite its delicate name--my wife exclusively wears "men's" and unisex perfumes except for this.

Given this is the day of beast mode perfumes for Covid damaged noses, I feel like this is due a comeback.

The divisiveness is that a lot of people don't like powdery scents, especially if they are too "vintage" or "outdated." Just think of the silver lining about its popularity is that the vintage bottles are still affordable.

Ah, I hate the concept of scents being outdated, as if beauty is a temporal thing. We have a new formulation gifted to me for when our old bottle runs out (very soon) and I am curious as to the difference. Me, I love a good powdery scent! I've seen Youth Dew called sour as well, which I guess is the citrus (and why it leans Pepsi rather than Coke to me).

It's the nature of fashion to be in and out. I think there's a lot of uncertainty in the world, and people are gravitating to the familiar, comforting and immediate dopamine hits. That's why gourmands and fresh citrus scents (which are all immediate top notes) which dry down to ambery or woody bases (which are crowd- pleasing) are so popular. I can't lie, I'm interested to see how trends change, and if it keeps perpetuating hyperfast mini-trends (to keep relevant with the miniscule attention spans of social media marketers), or a larger trend change occurs.

I love new things arriving, but I wish people weren't so marketing and peer pressure influence. The amount of ethyl maltol and ouds around now and people boasting of their 8-10 sprays really does make me wonder how strongly Covid induced asnosmia, GPL-1s and people depriving their body of food, and Gen Z people growing up in isolation and not learning not to intrude into others' spaces are linked, though. Overspraying seems one with watching TikTok on the train with no headphones.
