Trying this out after maturing - still a bit odd

Trying this out after leaving it to mature for some months but the opening still smells like alcohol and shoe polish but fainter than before. Like that is the background with a sweet savory note over the top.

After a few minutes the alcohol smell is going away and I’m smelling more of something like toffee here, mixed with vanilla and spice which is quite pleasant.

Will see how long this lasts but this is definitely odd as I had expected this to mature more by now and the light smell of something like leather with the toffee is a bit odd to my nose.

Edit: After some more time getting more wiffs of this turning into more of a vanilla spice. The harshness has now gone away so wondering if it’s just a case of a really screeching opening softening?

    Should be amazing man... Give it a few sprays and let it rest but it should already be pretty excellent... Maybe call jomashop and tell them what's going on they've been good at service with me exchanging issues.

      Thanks I’ll give it some more sprays its definetely getting better with time as it’s sitting on the skin and developing into a nice boozy scent now. I’ll reach out to JomaShop and see what’s up if the opening doesn’t improve but I’ll give it some time :)

      Always give the middle eastern stuff a few sprays and let them rest so they can oxidize and mature a bit getting to where it's supposed to be smelling like .. designer and niche stuff is bottled and sits at retailers for some time before you can buy them. These tend to go from production to consumer so they need some time to blend

      Sounds good i gave it a few more sprays so long to let some air I to the bottle and will let it settle again for a bit. Sprayed it originally a few times when i opened it about 5 months or so back so was hoping it had matured but looks like I was a bit rushed in my expectations so that’s on me 😅 The production date says 11/2025 on the box I kept; how long do you normally let Middle Eastern fragrances mature for?

    I have bottles that are over 3 years old that smell completely different then when I got them... Almost always smoother and deeper
