Kids pottery painting party today

My goth, atheist ass at a child’s birthday party with a bunch of Christian private school families. My kid was the only kid not in this Christian school in the American South. I knew I’d be standing out already so I just put on a fragrance that would let me feel proud of that.

The birthday girl is a friend my 7yo made in toddler gymnastics back when they were 2. The mom and I are still close 5 years later. I love her dearly! We are just so different and it’s hilarious at times like today. And of course we only knew the birthday girl and her parents.

I’m proud of who I am and what I look like, even when I don’t fit in. Social stuff is weird for me. I’m awkward and don’t feel like I got the same playbook everyone else did.
