“Amarige” translates to “marriage”, and as such I wanted to endorse divorce, a popular option!
The divorcee who I knew who wore this was a manic pixie sun damaged beach cities type from SoCal. Fried by the UV, she was charming, bright, bubbly, drunk, insane, and capable of giving the best hugs and making the best meals. Love her.
THE SMELL:
I do not see Amarige as having a clear progression, it is very similar to Poison and Giorgio and kind of picks up the best of both, plus the “hug me” accords of the 90’s. I honestly would say Amarige smells like nothing but itself, as I can only compare it to other fragrances. I smell L’Air d’Temps— benzyl salicylate??? And of course a foghorn of white florals and indulgent fruity tones. This is a fragrance for a WOMAN (anyone can wear it but it usually suits a femme-presenting person) who DESERVES attention, respect, and love.
