A Little Life in the Golden Fields

Of all the Zoologist fragrances I've sampled, none dissolve the boundary between wearer and creature quite like Harvest Mouse. Rather than simply depicting a mouse's habitat, it invites you to inhabit it.

The opening is all golden hay, soothing chamomile and soft vanilla, creating the impression of a warm nest hidden amongst sunlit fields. As it develops, the fragrance gains a richer, almost fermented sweetness. Wheat, hops and benzoin create the aroma of freshly baked bread and young beer - not in a gourmand sense, but as grains slowly transforming inside a nearby farmhouse.

Despite its abundance of sweet notes, Harvest Mouse never becomes cloying. The hay and gentle green facets keep everything airy, allowing the benzoin to glow with a comforting, ambery warmth rather than sugary excess.

My only wish is that it ventured somewhere darker as the day faded - perhaps into deeper woods or earthier terrain. But all in all, it's a gorgeous perfume, infinitely more wearable than many of Zoologist's offerings, and easily within my top 3 from the house.
