To me, this is a wet, spicy, earthy rose. Cool and sheer, not powdery, heavy, or jammy. It kind of hovers around you like a veil. I also get an otherworldly metallic note that makes this dirty rose smell oddly fresh and clean. I think this is due to the geosmin/petrichor. The incense is soft, but present.
Hermann is worth trying even if you don't typically enjoy rose perfumes. I actually didn't initially recognize it as rose when I first sampled it because it's so far removed from what I'd come to expect from more “classic” rose perfumes. This is modern and effortlessly cool.
What I picture: an entire rose bush is beamed up onto an alien space ship in the middle of a storm. Soil, water, and rose petals dirty the cold, metal floor.
