Absolue I Flamed A Rose

This was another surprise that is much better on skin than on the test strip!

I Flamed A Rose opens with cosmetic powder, rose, and earthy patchouli. There is both a woody cedar pencil shaving note and a sweet, ambery note as well. It's a lot more powdery than I expected from the paper test. It isn't a fluffy, soft, delicate powdery scent, but rather a richer, deeper and ambery one. It does read a little bit like play dough on me (not in a bad way), and there is also a peppery spice that I enjoy.

Over time, the scent becomes warmer and creamier, with an overall soft amber glow. The powder and patchouli are both still very present in the mid and early dry down. The late dry down is a slightly fruity rose and patchouli. The powderiness is completely gone at this point. The scent is quite faint by hour 6.

This is a classy, slightly sultry rose that is well balanced, and not too sweet or overpowering. It honestly would be a lovely scent for bed time if you wanted something a bit sweet, deep, and luxurious. I do think you really have to like powder and patchouli to enjoy this one.

It has moderate projection for 2 hours and lasts about 7-8 hours on my skin.

I Flamed A Rose isn't too loud, so it is honestly quite versatile. I think it would shine in the evening and cooler weather, though if you're in an air conditioned space it would make for a refined signature scent during the day as well. I think it definitely leans more feminine because of the powder. Very pretty and polished, and a easy reach. I give this one an 8/10.
