Osmanthus: the Journey of a Note in Perfume

I have a 2018 bottle of this and it’s one of my favorite florals.

Creamy but not overly indolic.

Has stonefruit notes but isn’t a super-fruity floral.

Osmanthus is framed with rich honeyed jasmine and an amber-musk base that growls a bit with a nice dissonant dry down.

Compared to “1000”, the Osmanthus is functionally in-equivalent. “1000” by Patou is the bright authentic Osmanthus with the only counterpoint being the woody bark of the tree the flower comes from (er, oak I guess). Journey enriches the note and gives it depth and nuance. It is the star but not as much as in “1000”, which is the reference Osmanthus.
