Aldeflorachypre: Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier Book 1 No. 1 Prelude in C Major as Fragrance

Arpeggio is the translation for Arpège. For those not musically inclined, listen to that Bach piece. The ascending and descending notes are arpeggios. That’s the whole piece. Rather neat.

The Eau de Parfum (1993; 1999 bottle) is arpeggiated by 3 phases, as tradition demands, and each is significantly different than the previous one. This is a shapeshifter. You wouldn’t expect this base having known the vintage extrait— or even more modern extraits and the Eau Arpege that is so common at estate sales.

Thus, I must esníf ‘n tell:

Top: aldehyde city with a blast of civetone. The aldehydes and civetone create a great clean/dirty accord that makes the aldehydes nutty and plush. It smells as if there is a rich amber top note with moss peaking out *already* as a floral accord begins to bloom…

Heart: lily baby let’s all say L I L Y on the count of 3 ok? 1, 2, 3– BILLY STOP HITTING YOUR BROTHER! Anyways, rose and ylang-ylang serve as the supporting cast with a narcicuss like note produced by the base sneaking up into the heart like sepsis.

Base: this is a case of a floral acting almost like an oriental…if only there were a wor— FLORIENTAL!!! But it’s more of a aldeflorachypre. Yeah. That part.
