I’m a bit obsessed with lilacs right now, ever since I got my hands on Eau de Lilas. This one from Alkemia is supposed to smell like breathing in the scent of lilacs from your front porch after a spring rain.

First impressions: opens with a surprisingly full-bodied and realistic lilac. The lilac is strong, but not stuffy. There are fresh and cool elements, but I don’t get literal rain or petrichor notes. Lilac still dominates about an hour in. For an inexpensive indie perfume oil, I’m very impressed with the quality!

      Eau de Lilas hands down! It’s made by enfleurage using lilac blooms that Montreal community members bring into the shop. But it’s limited edition and difficult to get, so I’m on a hunt for alternatives. Tears is really nice, and I’ve heard good things about En Passant (but haven’t had a chance to smell it yet…it’s in my pile of yet-to-try decants)
