Lorelei opens with tart strawberry and fresh basil, like an iced strawberry-basil cocktail on a warm summer day. There is an element of sweetness but it's not in a sugary way, it's like sweet basil rather than sweet strawberry. Fun, fresh, happy!

As it settles, the basil fades and the narcissus emerges. It has a vintage feel. Rich and narcotic, it brings a totally different edge to the earlier sweetness. Still fun, but more sensual. I think this fragrance is meant to be somewhat moody, but to me it’s quite playful.

Personally, I don't really get seaweed/kelp at any point, but I think the watery notes help keep this from becoming too heavy for summer. It isn't particularly salty on me, it's definitely more "aquatic" than "marine".

Side note, I'm absolutely obsessed with the apothecary style bottles. The sample vials are also very high quality and quite pretty!

    To add to this for @curlyhen – I mostly agreed with my original review! I did edit a few small things. I picked up on the same notes, but my original perception of it was more “calm and refreshing”, whereas now I find it more “fun and flirty”

    That sounds really nice. If I saw strawberry on the note list I’d pass right by it but you made it sound delicious.

      It’s definitely a different take on strawberry! The narcissus adds a lot of depth and makes it feel more “grown up” in my opinion. I really like it 😊

    You can get a variety of sample sets from the brand. Of the ones I’ve tried, these went on my want list: Arashiyama (Bamboo, Japanese Citruses, Ginger, Pear, White Tea, Cherry Blossom, Sandalwood and Musk), Coyoacán (Sage, Stone, Mexican Vanilla, Mountain Air, Agave nectar and Hibiscus), Finist the Falcon (Bulgarian Rose, Rose, Honey, Strawberry, Peach, Black Currant, Whipped Cream and Sugar), and Kinmokusei (Apricot, Peach, Amber, Yellow Flowers, Sap and Citruses).

      I have a good handful of samples from them too! I also liked Vasilisa and Vassago. Of the ones you listed, I’ve only tried Coyoacán. I wish I had Finist the Falcon, that one sounds right up my alley

      I’m no gardening expert but I pretty much just saturate the soil if it dries out, keep it in the sun, and trim it back every week or so (especially if it starts to flower)
