Another fantastic Amouage fragrance

Hibiscus is such a distinct note. Hibiscus Mahajád was just a little too leathery for me; its dupe Ibisco Nirvana was actually quite nice, a little spicier with softer leather. I just didn't reach for it, so I sold it. Ossington Heat from Bloorhaus smells very similar to Love Hibiscus, minus the incense; so if you're not an incense fan, but enjoy a warm hibiscus, you'd probably enjoy it. For me they were too similar, so I'll just finish the sample. So far this is my perfect hibiscus scent. It's not something I reach for very frequently, but seems good for year-round wear, minus very hot days, so I'll definitely use up my mini. It layered well over Mashumaro from this morning, which has insane performance.

It's a really unique scent, the hibiscus is prevalent, but not very tart as it is often presented. The caramel is not too sweet, the passionfruit is mild and more of a tart fruity background than something I could point out individually. The incense is present from the opening through the drydown, which I love as it's a favorite note. The caramel adds a burnt sugar sweetness to the incense, which combined with sandalwood, gives an impression of warm spices, though no spices are listed. This gives a bit of a liturgical lean to the incense and backbone of the fragrance, warm and spiced woody smoke. The orris is dry and not too earthy; it softens the other notes, keeping the incense from being too smoky or dense. I wouldn't call this an orris fragrance. Cypriol is often too sharp and biting for me, overwhelming many incense fragrances, but is not heavy-handed here, and adds more of a resinous quality than being particularly peppery. As with most Amouage, fantastic performance with strong projection, but not enough to choke out a room with a couple sprays.
