Saffron all the way down

I didn't read the notes beforehand and was expecting, based on the description, something sweeter and more bakery adjacent. This is neither. It is a smoky saffron & light oud fragrance, and that's about it. I don't mind oud & saffron, when blended well with other notes; the only other note that stands out is the patchouli that makes a forward appearance about 10 minutes in. Something about the smokiness does remind me a little of Blue Madeleine, but this is otherwise not similar. Not for me.
