   This has been on my list to try for so long and I still haven’t gotten round to it. It’s sounds so intriguing.

      “Intriguing” is absolutely the right word. The description Stora Skuggan connects to this scent gives more of a morning vibe, but it definitely feels darker than that — a bit like a misty, drizzly day with grey smudges for a sky, with shadows lurking in the corners. It’s a little haunted, but I kind of love that about it. If you’ve tried Grand Soir (Maison Kurkdjian) before, it has that same slightly minty/camphorous edge, and the sillage is weirdly similar for such different compositions — more earth & green to Mistpouffer, though.

      Yes, I’ve a decant of Grand Soir.. I didn’t realise they were similar.

      Yeah! I was a bit surprised myself, considering the differences outlined in their notes. The similarity fades at the base, but yeah — who would’ve guessed?

      Extremely fair — it’s a pricey pricey sniff. I love art, but this would usually go way beyond the limits of my wallet. I’m just very lucky that the perfumery I order from here in Australia happened to have a well-sized sample at a reasonable price.

   Update on the dry down (6 hours in) — the camphorous, almost-minty pine notes have given way to a sweet, slightly astringent base that’s almost reminiscent of old-fashioned brown creaming soda. There’s a light, slightly bitter herbiness to it, though, that stops this scent from verging on true gourmand territory.
