Not what I came for, but they were on my list
Les IndemodablesMusc Des Sables4.144 ratingsHeaded to Noseway Taipei this afternoon hoping to try some Pana Dora. I tried Patchouli Dust ages ago and really liked it, so was hoping for another sniff and to explore some more. Turns out they no longer stock it, but spotted some Les Indemodables and tried a couple of those instead.
Musc des Sables: clean, bright, floral musk that feels weighty and substantial. It doesn't really remind me of soap or fabric softener, but more like soft beachy air, with a gentle breeze bringing powdery florals and just a smidgeon of sweetness that makes me think of red berries, or perhaps just the bush they're hanging from. They don't smell the same, but the musky sweetness reminds me of Prada L'Homme crossed with Nasomatto Blamage. I would like this as a body wash or candle, but it's not my kind of fragrance. 7/10
Vanilla Havane: a boozy, spicy, damp humidor, with a raisiny-molasses sweetness. The stickiness here rubs me the wrong way - there's a real viscosity to the opening which feels strange when the scent itself isn't too sweet. For some reason, I always thought this was a loud fragrance, but it stays quite close to my skin without projecting much. The stickiness loosens up, the vanilla comes out a little more, and it lands as a bittersweet, cacao-dusted tobacco. Quite nice, but it's not knocking my socks off. 6.5/10
