One for the fragrance freaks

I would preface that CDG are probably my fav house & I've owned so many of their scents over the years (back in the early 00s when their little Series bottles only cost about GBP35, which is hard to believe in a way)

But this is a fragrance I don't wear often as it's straight up strange. Some may not even call it a perfume but an Avant Garde scent?

I've seen a proliferation of weird & unusual houses & scents on my IG & it's nearly always new stuff with edgelord notes (looking at you Toskovat) & ridiculous bottles (where do I start here?) but CDG were doing this in the 90s. This particular offering dropped in 1998.

I wanted to have a revisit & remind myself of why it's been gathering dust. First off the notes list is no help, they state it has 53 inorganic odors within. On me, I get a vegetal & chlorine opening, an overheating electronics middle & a vinyl record type dry down. Which stays close & lasts till about midday

It reminds me a little - in concept - of the Eau De Space fragrance, which also has a ton of random notes, to evoke the concept of being in space. Odeur 53 doesn't seem as offensive to my nose, it's still odd, it's really only for the freaks (it only comes in 200ml bottles, you've gotta be a freak to buy it!!) but I appreciate the artistry of creations like this & especially pre social media 'shock value' times

Anyway I'm rambling now & no one owns this anymore I'm sure
