It's 6AM on the Streets of Taipei

After living in Taipei for nearly a decade, the city holds a special place in my heart. When I discovered there was a perfume inspired by the place I now call home, I had to try it.

The opening notes sit front and centre in Taipei: the lactonic nuttiness of soy milk gently heating in a pot, the distinctive aroma released when opening a rice cooker, and the lilac-tinged, subtle sweetness of freshly steamed taro.

The iris and woods lend the fragrance a soft, powdery texture, keeping the composition from veering into something overtly edible. There is sweetness here, but it feels earthy and starchy rather than sugary - "savoury gourmand" feels like the most fitting description.
