Here are my thoughts after 8 hours on skin, a gym session and a long walk outside:

Stellar Silk: A warm sandalwood and creamy orris butter. This is such a soft, gentle scent, not in terms of performance, but in its smoothness. Benzoin, with its warmly spiced facets, brings a resinous sweetness that goes beautifully with the nutty creaminess. What we ultimately have is a warm, buttery, iris-infused woody vanilla. I find the sweet nuttiness a tad sickly, but this could be less apparent in colder weather. It would make a great candle. 7.5/10

Oud Paradisio: Western-style oud and tart pineapple. Nothing challenging here, but not necessarily “safe.” The oud has a timeworn woodiness that wouldn't appeal to all. The fruitiness is fresh and tropical, really cutting through the wood. Over time, the tartness loses its citric edge and becomes softened by a noticeable rose that brings a pretty, floral touch. I tend to prefer oud with more sweetness - making me think of reds, browns and purples. Bittersweet cacao comes through on paper, but on skin, it stays quite dry and cypriol-like, making me imagine tones of yellow and green. Still, I really like it. 8/10

Silver Ceremony: A citrus and ginger combination where the lemon jumps out the most, along with a briney, mineralic undercurrent. It warms in a way that makes me imagine these citrus, more orange at this point, baking under the sun on a cedar decking. I don't like how this sits on my skin - it goes quite musky while retaining that salty, almost metallic citrusiness. Perhaps the darker base notes are creating this green-tinged dustiness, but they don't arrive for me in their usual, full-bodied forms. Much better on paper, so it could be a me thing. 3.5/10

I also sprayed three cards and asked a bunch of people which they preferred:

Stellar Silk: 11 Silver Ceremony: 7 Oud Paradisio: 4

They all perform excellently, but now that I'm home, with the strips on my desk, it's Oud Paradisio that's filling my room.

      You'd love Stellar Silk then. I see comparisons to Gris Charnel, but no, they're mistaken haha! I know Gris Charnel inside out, and not once did I make that association. Stellar is much more creamy, sweet and buttery. The nutty vanilla is doing most of the heavy lifting here.

      It never gave me edible vibes either, so I think you're on to a winner! I wouldn't say full-on resinous, but the benzoin-sandalwood combo diverts the vanilla away from gourmand territory.

    Oh man, Oud Paradiso sounds right up my alley! I'm a sucker for fruity ouds. Did you find it comparable to anything you've tried previously?

      I found them all comparable but ran out of characters above to explain it haha! Stellar Silk reminded me of many creamy, woody vanillas. Silver Ceremony reminded me of Tygar, but nowhere near as good and with that god-awful metallic-brine that appeared on my skin. Oud Paradisio has Maracuja vibes for sure - also done by Jordi Fernandez, but the rose is really prominent here giving it such a pretty feeling. Definitely manly, but nudging closer to unisex than Maracuja. It's the western oud that Jordi must use that makes them similar. The passionfruit comes across sweeter and more syrupy than the tart-leaning-sour pineapple in Paradisio, and the leather from Maracuja (which I always found a major player) is not present at all. Altogether much more wearable and less bombastic. Loud, and long-lasting but more gentle on the nose.

      That's good to know! I really love Oud Maracuja, but I keep putting off buying it because of how punchy and chaotic it is. Like, I'd love the passionfruit part in the heat, but the leather is so prominent that I feel like it works much better in cool weather, but then the passionfruit feels out of place. I love my bottle of Oudian this time of year, but it's REALLY hard for me to confidently wear if, knowing how offputting it must be to many people around me. On the topic of fruity ouds, have you tried Burgundy Oud? I've been sampling that in stores recently and absolutely loving it!

      Totally agree! Tropical fruits and summer is a perfect match, but leather in the heat is awful. Oud Paradisio feels very spring/summer to me. Feels a little too bright and clean to be worn in winter, but it wouldn't feel out of place. I'd buy The Moon if I loved this kind of profile - real oud, a gorgeous sweetness and insane performance. It's 100% a winter fragrance to me though, despite the berried fruitiness. I haven't tried either of those two! Pretty inexperienced with ouds to be honest - added to my list.

      People loved Silver Ceremony too, both on paper and on skin, but it smelt so metallic/marine/calone-like to me - I think I'm just sensitive to that note, so perhaps even Silver Ceremony is worth a sniff too! Yeah, they were released around 3 months ago.

      I need to try and get my nose on all 3 then! Sadly the Saks near me closed in May so my options for in store testing are limited now. I’m trying to avoid buying more full bottles right now but there are just so many good smells to smell lol

      It's a blessing and a curse! Some scents require multiple wears, but more often than not, a single full-day's wear can let us know whether a little decant is needed. I would definitely hold out until you see them in-store - this collection does not come cheap!

      I do find BDK make some very nice scents, but only Gris Charnel Extrait has been full bottle worthy to me so far.
