Opens with a slightly lipsticky ambrette note, then gradually becomes sweeter without ever losing that ambrette core. I like the drydown more than the opening, which didn’t really grab me. The tonka adds character to the ambrette but I still couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something missing.

There are definitely some distinctive elements here but the overall scent profile still feels fairly familiar. Between this and the new Dior Homme Parfum (they aren’t necessarily competing fragrances) some elements feel similar. I’d stick with the Penhaligon’s though neither is really in a style I’m particularly fond of.

Overall, a decent execution of a DNA that just isn’t for me.
