But it's 32°C today, and I already know how much better she smells in the cold. Living somewhere subtropical as someone who much favours 'winter scents' is no easy thing!

Alas, there are a few fresh numbers in my collection that I love just as much. Philosykos EDP sits right at the top of that pile.

Most of us know how it smells by now: freshly-snapped-stem chlorophyll greenness, slowly morphing into something creamy, woody and lotion-like. Never have I experienced a more photorealistic impression of an unripe fig - leaves, flesh, tree and all.

It has an effortless sophistication that's difficult to put into words until you've tried it, and on my skin at least, doesn't suffer from the dreadful performance that plagues so many others. I consistently get 2–3 hours of gentle projection, followed by a soft skin scent with fleeting whiffs that linger until around the 8-hour mark.

**Edit** – It's been 8½ hours, everybody. I sprayed it 8 times, all on skin, no clothing, and I'm still catching subtle wafts of it. Unless I just got especially lucky with skin chemistry, it's really not as fleeting as people say.
