Wong Kar-Wai, Michael Haneke, Todd Haynes, David Cronenberg..off the top of my head :) I use films like I use my perfumes..a little escape!

Cronenberg is one of my favorites too! And Todd Haynes - Velvet Goldmine gets A LOT of play in this house, haha. I also really love David Lynch, John Waters, Park Chan-wook, early Kathryn Bigelow, Maya Deren, David Lowery, Billy Wilder, Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani, etc. etc. etc. haha

This was for a screening of Mysterious Skin yesterday - the audience basically sat in silence for a good 5 or 10 minutes and it was work to get people talking, as I’m sure you can imagine

Oh no, everyone there were def fans of the Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy, but most hadn’t seen Mysterious Skin, so everyone was gutpunched by MS, and then the Q&A started, haha. I still have to see his new one too, but I’m really looking forward to it!
