The opening? Yikes. The dry down? ...

Bottom line up front: screechy soap opening that moves into a super green and herbally clean, albeit somewhat weak, scent.

I feel like I've given this long enough (nearly six weeks) to mature/macerate/oxidize/pick your term in order to give it a fair shake.

The opening is ROUGH. It's what I imagine Lava Soap crossed with Irish Spring would smell like. Fortunately, the intensity dials down after a few minutes and it moves into a very nice herbal, and still soapy, phase. I do love a good rosemary note, and River Fougere has that going for it. There's definitely a presence of clove as well, giving it a nice spicy twist as well.

Performance is what I would consider below average with my typical 4 spray regimen. It projects ok for maybe an hour and is basically a skin scent at five hours. It's still somewhat present, but very, very quiet. For as screechy as the opening is, I'm a bit surprised. I am grateful it smooths out considerably as it dries down.

I enjoy it, but this isn't one I'll seek to repurchase after these 30 milliliters are gone.
