Jasmine sour

I love Alien EDP by Mugler and still use a solid version whenever I'm travelling. Therefore, I chose this particular sample of perfume from Rosendo Mateu as the notes look very similar. I can honestly say that the scents are indeed quite alike, but the overall experience differs in a lot of ways.

Let's start with jasmine. In this fragrance, it's heavy and cloying, very blended into sandalwood, almost as a singular sharp note of sweetened wood. The amber screeches heavily, making the whole thing smell almost fizzy and sour. The ingredients here are masterfully blended, but to me, it's a bit too loud, as they shout one over another a single step away from an olfactory cacophony.

The scent is very strong and lingering, which is sort of the point of the composition. But it's not something I'd like to wear on myself, as it is way too much of everything, despite not having much variety going on. I feel like people who like to layer multiple scents would appreciate the complex simplicity of the composition more than me.
