   I feel like this is a "crowd friendly" version of Shalimar. It's less vintage and smoking lounge vibes. Inthink this is a flanker for the newer generations and those that can't handle the intensity of Shalimar itself. I refer to this as my daytime Shalimar.

      I just don’t find any common vibes. It just feels totally unrelated and they just stuck it in a shalimar bottle for marketing purposes. I love Shalimar and will wear it anytime, anywhere but love this as well. I feel like the actual “crowd friendly” version is L’essence, but it’s too vanilla-forward for me personally

      That is because for this one they pulled everything that makes Shalimar the oriental that it is. The balsamic, animalic tobacco qualities are gone. This is only the clean notes and the vanilla. And I saw you were mixed on the tonka one so I get the vanilla comment here. If you ever tried De Lumiere flanker they you see those are close. I think this is why there are technically 2 lines of flankers for Shalimar. The Millésime line and the souffle flankers. 1 is very clean, 1 very "dirty" is how I saw the division.

      I have not tried the Lumiere one but I saw it was also very vanilla so I skipped it. If this is a negative shalimar and that’s the relationship then Im here for it. Never thought of it that way until now but it makes sense. Yeah the tonka is just okay, it didn’t blow my wig back and it was a relief frankly not to want this bottle since it’s so expensive now. I sometimes wear shalimar with a dab of tonka sarrapia to deepen the tonka and i like it so much better

   Yeah, that is the way it makes sense in my head for how they are vastly different, but also the "same". I had Lumiere and decluttered it for the same reason. It was too citrus vanilla. I wear souffle for the day and spray OG over it at night. There souffle is just missing that oriental it honestly doesn't change it to anything but back to the original. Like having day makeup and just darkening the corners for a night look kind of thing.
