Pear-fection

Forgive the title, but this is truly my ideal pear scent. There’s some aspect of pear as a perfumery note that can burn my nostrils unpleasantly—it’s usually in the immediate opening and settles quickly, but it ruins a scent for me. I love the smell of pears, though, so wanted to find one I could love.

Studied is blissfully smooth, just the right amount of sweet, mellow but present. The ambrette here is lovely, nutty and musky without going mildewy or musty as ambrette can often do for me.

The other notes are background players to enhance the stars, so what I experience is the gentlest, prettiest natural pear over a clean-earthy, smoothly nutty musk.

Perhaps I’m being influenced by marketing, but this really does feel contemplative, soothing, and cozy. I love wearing it on gray, rainy days—it is completely lacking in melancholy or damp notes, but it’s the olfactory equivalent of being snuggled up under a blanket while rain runs down your windowpanes. It’s probably most aligned with spring, seasonally speaking, but for me it’s my year-round reach on days I need a little comfort.
