Iris Dominant

The WhatScent app was like "you've worn Iris Trousseau hella so pls tell what else it's like kthx" and this immediately came to mind, actually.

I once read a review of Tanagra that called it "gentle lipstick iris carried on a puff of laundry musk" accompanied by "lemony freesia" and "a tannic slightly bitter black tea impression," and that describes Tanagra so well imo. The memory that sticks most from my first time wearing it is an overwhelming detection of iris—to the point where I specifically was reminded of Iris Trousseau (henceforth "IT" for brevity) and *had* to test both simultaneously to make sure they weren't the same!

All that to say, the iris is dank (read: potent) in Tanagra. Not anywhere as intensely "expensive lipsticky/compact powdery" as IT, though (for even extra context, IT also reminds me of La Belle Le Parfum just less synthetic, a tad less sillage and considerably extended longevity). When I first smelled Tanagra, I honestly thought "... this smells like Iris Trousseau...why did I spend so much money on IT then?!", ran to test IT, and was comforted by my perceived marked difference in quality between the two 🤣

So, if you want iris-embedded, lemony freesia-peony musk that is delicately couched within clouds of cedarwoody vetiver, this is your girl! I can barely detect the pear and tangerine, though I sense the tangerine adding the slightest bit of tartness (and the pear, sweetness) to the floral, musky iris that is Tanagra.

Y'know what; I actually got this as a free sample with my purchase of IT, I just remembered! No doubt the retailer thought "they'll *surely* like this one if they can appreciate Iris Trousseau"—and they were completely on point! I like this one a lot, but I'm not gonna get it bc I have IT. I highly recommend testing it if you like iris (or, avoiding it if you *don't* like iris), though!

Edit to add that this perfume is what I'd imagine Iris Altesse would've come out like if Nathalie Lorson was the nose for it (instead of Antoine Lie). It reminds me of Master X Master, but if it had heavy iris in it.
