An afternoon spent sampling - all on skin

Vanille Leather: A creamy, iris-infused vanilla that opens quite fresh. The leather is more of a smooth suede than anything animalic. The sweetness intensifies as the vanilla warms, made rather sultry by prominent white florals and given a resinous, ambery viscosity. It certainly leans feminine, and smells too delicious for me, but the right man could pull it off. 7/10

Velvet Tonka: Very almondy to begin. Almondy, floral and a touch sour, reminding me of marzipan. The sharpness decreases and it turns into a smooth, buttery tonka scent. I wouldn't call this sugary, but it has a smooth, milky, nutty sweetness, alongside something a little "old-world apothecary" - amyris, perhaps. I prefer it to VL, but only by a hair. 7/10

Crème de Cuir: Sorry @curlyhen, but I still get a tropical pineapple note up top! 😆 However, it doesn't take long to turn into a bright, luscious, musky suede, rendered in pastel tones of cream, yellow and orange. I'm reclining on a plush suede chaiselong in a sandalwood-adorned rooftop bar at sunset, sipping a silken cocktail topped with a wedge of sweet citrus. Posh, sexy and comforting. 8.5/10

Villa Néroli: A dry, aromatic, earthy neroli, that later turns a little soapy. A greenery flickers in and out - not fresh herbs, but something bitter and sun-baked. The ambroxan is strong, bringing a musky sweetness that, combined with the mature-leaning resinous-patchouli drydown, makes me imagine a clean, older gentleman relaxing by the pool of his luxurious Mediterranean villa at sunset. The vanilla is completely absent on my skin, and overall, it feels more masculine-leaning. Beautiful, but I might need a decade or two. 7.5/10

Raw Gold: The scent of raw, thick, animalic honey. I've never known honey to smell so sharp. I suppose it's sweet too, but in a bracing, unfriendly and, honestly, almost urinous kind of way. Despite this, I can't stop sniffing it; there's something feral and addictive about it. I'm pretty torn whether I like it or not. 5/10
