Grey, rainy days = Vetiver. Fight me.

For me, rain/grey is a great match with vetiver. It's a green, slightly bitter but 'wet' note, it can lend itself to a certain moodiness (that I often associate with London rain), but can also be fresh and add some lift.

Now, I find this to genuinely suit every season - it has elements and notes that fit year round: it is inspired by The Jungle Book, and somehow has been formulated to have this 'humid' element which contributes to a lush greenness (and really suits the often muggy weather in London, whether that's sunny or in rain) - but there's also a surprising tropical pineapple note in the opening that feels a bit juicy and transportative. This then opens up into fig (a year round and favourite note) and delicious cypress woodiness. Oh and did I mention it LASTS like crazy?

Of the A&M line this is a polarising scent that can elicit some Very Big Feelings from certain reviewers! (But honestly, their loss - just PLEASE don't discontinue, Guerlain!)

In fact, the last time I was in Guerlain in Covent Garden, I was happily chatting A&M scents with a young couple who couldn't have been more than 19, and the guy who was trying to flex with his perfume collection and knowledge was exclaiming how VF was terrible and how nobody could like it... and the (until that point) very stoic Balkan security guard came over and very seriously looked him in the eye and said, "No. No, you are wrong: this very good perfume. MANY many people love" as though his ancestors had been insulted, and that put an end to that! 😄😄😄

So the security guard and I are big fans (top 5 for me). Super versatile, not ubiquitous, long lasting green lush fig and vetiver. What do you think?
