   How strong is the styrax note in this?

      I don’t really know. I think I have tested one other fragrance with styrax in it, but it’s such a complex note that it’s hard for me to pick out. I smell more patchouli and lily than anything else. Maybe my nose just isn’t picking up styrax? If it’s what I think it is, it makes the fragrance kind of “dirty” and muddled, but it’s very complementary (and welcomed) to the spicy base of this. But I’m not exactly sure what styrax smells like on its own to know for sure.

      @curlyhen I just did a little micro-research on this (pardon my newbie-nose 🤣), and I think the patchouli comes through so strong to me that I can barely detect it…so I don’t think it’s very strong. I am also pretty sensitive to patchouli though, and in most cases if a fragrance has patchouli in it, it’s all I’ll smell for the most part…but the resinous quality is still there. I hope that helps a little!! 🤗

      Thank you for all of this! 🤗💗 Styrax is a tree resin that is related to benzoin but less sweet, darker, heavier and with leather & Smokey facets. It can add a lovely balsamic profile to a perfume but I can find styrax a too tarry if it’s too strong. I think, like you and patchouli, if it’s in there my nose will find it lol.

   Is that a ScentBird decant? If so, how do you like ScentBird? I’ve been tempted by some of these subscription scent services but am unsure about committing to so many travel sizes

      Good call on the hesitation! I really like it, but I tend to get the 1ml samples from Scentsplit first before committing to a specific travel size every month. I’ll usually load up my queue and pick a handful of small decants for the upcoming months’ selections. This way, if I try it and don’t like it I can remove it from my queue and I’m not stuck with a bigger size! I think they also have a monthly subscription for the smaller-sized testers that is considerably cheaper per month if you are hesitant!

      Oh that’s good to know about the smaller size option! It’s been a while since I looked at their options but that definitely sounds more appealing for my fragrance habits, lol.
