I have been experimenting with the immortelle accord in order to mimic the Corsican macchia. After many complete failures, by chance I came across a combination with tiaré notes and found it quite pleasant, to my honest surprise! It recreated exactly the sun-drenched Mediterranean herbal macchia—without the polarizing scent of raw immortelle's harsh, curry-like edges. I only now found out that other perfumers have actually used this combination to pull off the very same magic trick: Molinard – Méditerranée: Uses tiaré in the opening paired with immortelle, sage, and labdanum in the heart to capture a breezy, sun-baked coastal landscape. Pierre Guillaume – Limanakia 27: Anchors radiant tiaré notes over a base of immortelle, mineral notes, and warm spices for a warm, sun-kissed skin effect.
