Sniffari Report, part 2!

The Saturday Sniffari Late Report continues! I huffed a tremendous number of scents on Saturday & I am nothing if not a sharer.

These observations were written the afternoon after the hunt, while the scents were still fresh, but some comments have been added after the fact where pertinent. Needless to say, these are just my personal takes, not a scathing indictment of anyone’s tastes. If you’ve tried these, please add your thoughts in the comments. ❤️

Torino21 — Hot take, but I don’t consider this fruity at all. It’s very fresh & herbaceous — there’s an airy, almost green quality to it. This is barely sweet and instead, makes its home firmly in fresh-green territory for me. The opening notes are straight-up mojito vibes, and very refreshing. The mix of mint & lavender is an interesting touch — not sure exactly how I feel about it, but I feel about it, which is something? It will surprise precisely no one that this scent’s projection is ridiculous. I can *still* smell it on the strip of testing paper on the table 40cm from my elbow, 2.5 full days after my sniffari. I don’t know what Xerjoff is doing in their lab, but I suspect they’d have been burned at the stake back in the day. On paper? Not for me. Alas, I was not bold (or foolish) enough to test this on skin. I suspect it would have killed me in hand-to-hand combat.

Hundred Silent Ways — Creamy, floral, tart & fruity-sweet, with a boozy undercurrent, this is a gorgeous scent, which trails beautifully. I can absolutely see why it’s so popular. It’s wonderfully blended, and projects like an absolute champ. It’s not for me, alas — my nose can’t do tuberose & gardenia this strongly, unfortunately, and goes on the fritz approximately 3 sniffs in. But those 3 sniffs are indeed glorious.

312 Saint-Honoré — This must develop a great deal on skin, because from paper, I’m getting plenty of orange flower & oranges (the light gold navel kind — nothing heavy here), and some amber notes, but not a lot else. No iris for me (sighhh), but I’m not picking up much of the gasoline punch of the pink pepper up top either, which might be the top notes dying super quick or might be a testament to the blending power of this scent, adding sparkles but no gunpowder. The ambroxan in the base is delectable, though. Projection on this is arms-length but persistent — this scent doesn’t seem to settle or fade easily. Longevity, unsurprisingly, is excellent (at least on paper — still clear & very present 2 days later). I could definitely see myself wearing this of a summer, but I’m not quite ready to retire any of my orange numbers for this one.
