Sniffari report, part 3!

The Saturday Sniffari Late Report continues (final download here)! I huffed a tremendous number of scents on Saturday & I am nothing if not a sharer.
These observations were written the afternoon after the hunt, while the scents were still fresh, but some comments have been added after the fact where pertinent. Needless to say, these are just my personal takes, not a scathing indictment of anyone’s tastes. If you’ve tried these, please add your thoughts in the comments. ❤️
Bouquet de Hongrie — Straight out of the gate, this is a no from me. I’m sure this is lovely for someone else, but for me, there’s this odd cold artificiality to the fruit notes that leave me shuddering. It could be the combination of fruit & cedar — that almost menthol-pine note from cedar can sometimes pop through in scents. It dries down a little nicer, but waaaay too late for me. It does last like an absolute motherfucker, though — it haunted my dress in the washing basket until I washed it today from half an hour in my pocket.
Love Delight — This is a lovely soft-pink fragrance — very powdered sugar without being too sweet, vanilla without being too cloying & almond without the slight stink-bug edge to the scent. It’s lovely & very snuggly & delicious. The florals sink into the texture of the scent, adding complexity & keeping this yummy mix out of gourmand territory. I’m not tempted to splurge here, but I could see myself acquiring a decant on a whim if the opportunity presented itself.
Xplicit Vanilla — Let it be known that I have never once wished to be beaten to death by a jumbo vanilla pod wrapped with spices like so much barbed wire. So loud. So vanilla. So boozy. Why? (I know — it’s in the name.) Gorgeous for someone & that someone is Not Me.
Wild Vetiver — Pretty certain this is the main culprit behind Saturday’s migraine & the reason behind my current sinus ache. As much as I love vetiver, this makes me want to run headlong into a woodchipper. There’s this distilled alcohol note under everything (even after 2.5 days on paper) that just rabbit-punches me straight in the nose as soon as I’m within half a metre of this tiny strip of cardboard. Based on this evidence, I suspect this is not one for sensitive noses. A lovely scent for some, but not for me.
