An African Village in the Heart of the Savannah

A bracing opening of sharp spice, peppery florals and pungent oud is given a thick, viscous texture. It doesn't smell syrupy in a sweet sense, but there's an immediate density that can feel overwhelming at first.

Thankfully, it settles down quickly - the softness of rose, the sweetness of cinnamon and a dark, woody depth. To my nose, there's nothing musty here; the patchouli instead provides a plush earthiness that feels very classical.

Despite the name, the leather feels more like an atmosphere than a distinct note. I picture an African village in the heart of the savannah: cracked, sun-baked earth, animal hides drying in the heat, and soft florals mingling with warm, ambered spices.

It's an incredible perfume that feels exotic yet familiar, untamed yet refined. I'm not usually one for slating a perfume's performance, especially if it smells great, but I really wish the current formula gave me more than 3 hours of noticeable presence.
